Indie Film of the Year in a Non Horror Category 2018

Okay, today we announce the winner of the non-horror Indie Film of the Year. We had two stand outs. The touching comedy Miles, and the sci-fi fantasy Galaxy Lords.

Runner Up

"A kid from middle America, desperate to move to Chicago, joins the volleyball team to get a scholarship - the only catch is that his high school only has a girls team."

Without doubt, Miles has some stellar performances in it. Lead Tim Boardman does a wonderful job in a heartfelt film. Written and directed with true emotion from Nathan Adloff, the film is both touching and funny, and has much needed themes very importantly including acceptance.

"A mere decade after the Heptigalaxial Cosmic Eternity War, the Kingdom of the Seven Galaxies is once again on the precipice of oblivion. The evil prince ADORASTIUS has escaped his icy incarceration and threatens the universe with the most fantastical yet calamitous power imaginable. The multiverse cries out in peril, and the beleaguered hero GALACTIC COMMANDER HELIOS must forge a crew of old friends and new allies to defend the sanctity of the cosmos."

Beyond weird from the outset, written by Von Bilka and Dan Underhill, directed by Von Bilka, and starring a glorious cast of actors, Galaxy Lords is undeniably the most watchable passion project filmed in recent years. Both funny and exciting, laden with subtle references and even some gore, the film is the epitome of fan service for anyone growing up with sci-fi fantasy.

An absolute must watch and deserved winner.
